Maria Alonso and guests at the State Capitol.
Maria Alonso, Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez, and Legislative Leaders on the Assembly Floor of the State Capitol

Proud to celebrate the accomplishment of a true fighter in our community, María Alonso. It was my honor to welcome María to the State Capitol today as my 2018 Woman of the Year! Dedicating her life to improving the health and well-being of others, María is the founder of Huerta Del Valle, a non-profit that is building urban farms in communities that lack access to fresh fruit and vegetables.

Thank you to all of the community members and leaders who attended this year's Holiday Open House and Toy Drive! We have raised hundreds of toys for distribution to families in the 52nd Assembly District. Thank you for your time and generosity!

I am proud to recognize outstanding teachers from across our community. This year, I selected a teacher from each school district in the 52nd Assembly District and recognized them with a ceremony at Chino's Old Schoolhouse Museum. Know a teacher you think should be honored next year, let me know!
