Assemblywoman Carrillo Appointed to California Film Commission
Dear Friends,
I am honored to announce that California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon has appointed me to serve on the California Film Commission. The commission oversees the California Film & Television Tax Credit program which bolsters our California economy and creates production jobs right here at home. Film and TV production supports well over 700,000 jobs and nearly $70 billion in wages for California workers, many of whom live in our community.
In my role as Chair of Budget Sub 4 on State Administration, my office has worked tirelessly to expand tax credits, investing in our workforce in order to create, retain, and bring back below and above the line entertainment jobs to our state. To that end, diversity must be an ongoing focus, as we work to ensure that public dollars are reflective of the people of California. To view my full statement, click here.
Last year, I co-authored SB-144, which expanded California’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program, supplementing the program with increased funding and new diversity work plan provisions. Governor Gavin Newsom’s 2023-24 budget proposal includes a five-year extension to the film credit program.
