California May Owe You Money
Dear Neighbor,
The State of California is trying to return approximately $13 billion dollars to its rightful owners. Is some of it yours?
California’s unclaimed property laws require “holders” such as corporations, business associations, financial institutions, insurance companies, and others to annually deliver and report to the State Controller’s Office after there has been no customer contact for over three years. Often the owner forgets the account exists, moves and does not leave a forwarding address, or the forwarding address expires. In some cases, the owner dies and the heirs have no knowledge of the property.
To find potential money, visit the State Controller’s Office and search the Unclaimed Property Data Base for money the State may owe you.

El Estado de California está tratando de devolver aproximadamente $13 mil millones de dólares a sus legítimos propietarios. ¿Puede que algo sea suyo?
Las leyes de California acerca de las propiedades no reclamadas requieren que los "poseedores", tales como las corporaciones, asociaciones empresariales, instituciones financieras, compañías de aseguranza y otros, entreguen y reporten anualmente a la Oficina del Contralor del Estado después de no haber tenido contacto con el propietario por más de tres años. Frecuentemente, lo que pasa es que al propietario se le olvida que existe la cuenta, se muda y no deja dirección de envío o la dirección de envío se expira. En algunos casos, el propietario fallece y los herederos no tienen conocimiento de la propiedad.
Para encontrar dinero potencial, visite la Oficina del Contralor del Estado y busque en la Base de Datos de Propiedad No Reclamada el dinero que el Estado puede deberle.
