Free COVID-19 Vaccines for L.A. County Residents 65 and Older

Get the Vaccine: Make a Plan

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

I hope that you and yours are staying safe and healthy. This e-newsletter is about COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, scams, and volunteer opportunities in Los Angeles County. Please visit https://a51.asmdc.org/covidvaccine for more details.

The COVID-19 vaccine appointment system for L.A. County residents may now be accessed by persons 65 years and older, healthcare workers, and other persons in Phase 1A and Phase 1B Tier 1.

Whether you are insured or uninsured, you may visit Vaccinatelacounty.com to make your appointment to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine. You may also make an appointment for a free COVID-19 vaccine by calling (833) 540-0473 between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

COVID-19 VACCINATION SITES:

If you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, you may call your healthcare provider to learn what options are available to you, and/or, you may schedule an appointment at one of the following 10 COVID-19 vaccination sites:

Click here to find out if the site nearest you is offering the Pfizer or the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, and to make your appointment.

The number of appointments is extremely limited as the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses is extremely limited. Do not register for a COVID-19 appointment if you are not a healthcare worker, long term care facility resident, or person age 65 and older. Doing so will take an appointment slot away from a person who is in a higher risk group, and if you are deemed ineligible you will be turned away without receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

AVOID COVID-19 VACCINE SCAMS:

Scammers have used robocalls, social media posts, and spam emails to take advantage of fear, anxiety, and confusion. Please remember:

    • The COVID-19 vaccine will be distributed, at no cost to you, in a fair and transparent way.
    • Free COVID-19 vaccines are available to all eligible L.A. County residents, including L.A. County Residents who do not have health insurance coverage, and including L.A. County residents who do not have Social Security Numbers.

COVID-19 TESTING:

Free COVID-19 testing is available to all L.A. County residents, regardless of whether or not you have insurance. By law, your health insurance provider may not charge you any co-pay, deductible, or any out-of-pocket expense for the test.

More than 130 facilities across L.A. County offer free COVID-19 testing. Some facilities require appointments, others do not. Click here to view the map of COVID-19 testing sites and make a plan to get tested today.

VOLUNTEER TO VACCINATE:

L.A. County is seeking licensed clinical professionals (LCPs) able to serve as (unpaid) volunteers at large vaccine point of dispensing (POD) sites. Daily support is needed with:

    • Preparing and drawing the vaccine;
    • Monitoring vaccine temperature;
    • Administering the vaccine;
    • Observing people for reactions to vaccine

If you have a current CA license, please click here to volunteer. If you do not currently have a current CA license in these professions, please consider volunteering in a non-clinical role.
