Happy Mother's Day!
Dear friends,
As Mother's Day nears, we take time to recognize and celebrate the tireless efforts and immeasurable contributions of mothers everywhere. We acknowledge the love, care, and support that mothers provide for their families and communities every day. I am especially grateful to my own mother who inspires me each and every day.
As we celebrate this Mother's Day, we also recognize the challenges posed by the current state of the economy on mothers caring for their families, in which people across this district and beyond struggle with food insecurity and high housing costs. In response, my office is advancing AB 712, a bill that will allow CalFresh recipients to purchase ready-to-eat hot and prepared food at grocery stores with SNAP Benefits.
This policy will afford the millions of Californians enrolled in CalFresh a lifeline to access healthier food options, simultaneously combating food insecurity and a host of health issues.
As part of the Legislative Women’s Caucus priority legislation, my office is also advancing AB 1194, which closes a loophole in the California Privacy Rights Act, guaranteeing that anyone seeking information on comprehensive reproductive healthcare will have their data protected under California's robust data privacy laws. No exceptions.

Queridos Amigos,
Con el Día de las Madres llegando este fin de semana, tomamos un momento para reconocer y celebrar los incansables esfuerzos de las madres en nuestra comunidad. Reconocemos el amor y el apoyo que las madres brindan a sus familias cada día, y estoy especialmente agradecida por mi propia madre, quien me inspira cada día.
Mientras celebramos este Día de la Madre, también reconocemos que muchas personas en nuestra región de Los Ángeles luchan todos los días contra la inseguridad alimentaria y los altos costos de vivienda. Estas situaciones presentan dificultades inmensas a las madres. En respuesta, mi oficina está avanzando AB 712, una ley que permitirá a los beneficiarios de CalFresh comprar alimentos preparados y listos para comer en tiendas de comestibles con los beneficios de SNAP.
Esta política brindará a los millones de californianos inscritos en CalFresh un recurso esencial para acceder a opciones de alimentos más saludables, al mismo tiempo que combatimos la inseguridad alimentaria.
Como parte de la legislación prioritaria de la Caucus Legislativo de Mujeres, mi oficina también está avanzando la ley AB 1194, que asegurá que la Ley de Derechos de Privacidad de California garantice que cualquier persona que busque información sobre la salud reproductiva tenga su información protegida bajo las leyes de privacidad en California. Sin excepciones.
