Justice for Communities of Chavez Ravine!

AB 1950 The Chavez Ravine Accountability Act

Dear Neighbor,

I recently unveiled Assembly Bill (AB) 1950, the Chavez Ravine Accountability Act, which aims to address the historical injustice faced by those who lived in and were displaced violently from the communities of La Loma, Palo Verde, and Bishop, commonly referred to as Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles. This bill would acknowledge and rectify the displacement of these communities in the 1950s by offering a path toward historical accountability, reparative measures, and a permanent memorial honoring their legacy. AB 1950 is the start of necessary conversations to achieve justice by:

  1. Creating a task force to determine and establish guidelines for compensation.
  2. Identifying individuals displaced by developing a database.
  3. Requiring construction of a memorial to honor the legacy of displaced residents.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, as we strive to correct the injustices caused by past generations. We are ready to bring healing and justice to the communities of La Loma, Palo Verde, and Bishop. With your help, we can make that happen.

¡Justicia para las comunidades de Chávez Ravine!

Recientemente introducí el Proyecto de Ley de la Asamblea (AB) 1950, la Ley de Rendición de Cuentas Para Chávez Ravine, que tiene como objetivo corregir la injusticia histórica que enfrentaron aquellos que vivieron y fueron desplazados violentamente de las comunidades de La Loma, Palo Verde y Bishop, comúnmente referidas como Chávez Ravine en Los Ángeles. Este proyecto de ley reconocería y rectificaría el desplazamiento de estas comunidades en la década de 1950 al ofrecer un camino hacia la rendición de cuentas histórica, medidas reparadoras y un monumento permanente que honre su legado. AB 1950 es el comienzo de las conversaciones necesarias para lograr la justicia al:

  1. Crear un grupo de trabajo para determinar y establecer sugerencias para compensación.
  2. Identificar personas desplazadas mediante el desarrollo de una base de datos.
  3. Reconocer la injusticia de los desplazados construyendo un monumento conmemorativo en su honor.

Tenemos mucho trabajo por delante, mientras nos esforzamos por corregir las injusticias causadas por las generaciones pasadas. Estamos listos para llevar sanación y justicia a las comunidades de La Loma, Palo Verde y Bishop. Con su ayuda, podemos hacer que eso suceda.
