The Legislature Passes Budget: Investing in Our Communities

Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo

Dear Friend,

I am proud that the Legislature passed a budget today that reflects our commitment to California's future that is now on its way to the Governor’s desk.

We fought to restore transportation funding and we are investing in housing and homelessness prevention. We are ensuring adequate resources to fund K-12 education and made significant investments in higher education. We prioritized families by providing cost of living adjustments for childcare. While other states play politics with human lives, we maintain our commitment to immigrant rights organizations by ensuring funding for legal services and support. We propelled the growth of California's creative economy, enhanced theater arts programs in correctional facilities, and expanded the Film & Television tax credit program to ensure we stop runaway productions, increase workforce diversity and keep thousands of jobs in our state.

While we face budget challenges, I look forward to our ongoing negotiations with Governor Newsom as we aim to secure a budget that is reflective of our values and promotes a California for All.
