Retail Theft Harms Our Community - We’re Doing Something About It
Dear Neighbor,
I recently introduced Assembly Bill 1990, the Secured Transactions and Organized Theft Prevention (STOP) Act, a significant step towards public safety and challenges against organized retail theft.
We know that organized retail theft continues to impact small and large businesses alike, our California economy and the safety and wellbeing of our communities. Today, we stand at a pivotal moment to address a challenge that has been allowed for far too long. Businesses and communities have been under siege by organized retail theft rings that have created lawlessness by some and fear for employers and workers alike who don’t know if they will be safe in their workplaces. With the introduction of AB1990, the STOP Act, we are taking a necessary step to strengthen our response to this crisis. Organized retail theft demands an organized response on prevention and safety.
My goal with this bill is to reaffirm Governor Newsom's and the Legislature’s commitment to public safety by protecting communities from the detrimental impacts of organized crime.

El Robo en Tiendas Daña a Nuestra Comunidad - Estamos Haciendo Algo al Respecto

Recientemente presenté el Proyecto de Ley de la Asamblea de 1990, la Ley de Transacciones Garantizadas y Prevención del Robo Organizado (STOP, por sus siglas en inglés), un paso significativo hacia la seguridad pública y los desafíos contra el robo minorista organizado.
Sabemos que el robo organizado continúa afectando a las pequeñas y grandes empresas por igual, a nuestra economía de California y a la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestras comunidades. Hoy nos encontramos en un momento crucial para abordar un desafío que se ha permitido durante demasiado tiempo. Las empresas y las comunidades han estado bajo el asedio de bandas organizadas de robo minorista que han creado anarquía para algunos y temor tanto para los empleadores como para los trabajadores que no saben si estarán seguros en sus lugares de trabajo. Con la introducción de AB1990, la Ley “STOP”, estamos dando un paso necesario para fortalecer nuestra respuesta a esta crisis. El robo organizado en comercios minoristas exige una respuesta organizada en materia de prevención y seguridad.
Mi objetivo con AB 1990 es reafirmar el compromiso del Gobernador Newsom y de la Legislatura con la seguridad pública protegiendo a las comunidades de los impactos perjudiciales del crimen organizado.
