Securing $1.5 Million for Affordable Housing & Parks for Los Angeles
Dear Neighbor,
In the coming years, Glassell Park, a.k.a Frog Town, Taylor Yard, the abandoned rail yard along the Los Angeles River, will undergo major renovations. The Rio de Los Angeles State Park adjacent to the project will see new affordable housing, open space, green infrastructure, transportation, and cultural projects that will benefit our community.
To address the ways in which the new park may negatively impact adjacent neighborhoods, my office secured $1.5 Million for the Los Angeles Regional Open Space and Affordable Housing (LA ROSAH) Collaborative to fund the Taylor Yard Equity Strategy (TYES), a community-driven effort prioritizing the voices of our neighbors and the families that live in the area. My goal has always been to ensure we organize and deliver a people-first agenda and that we always invest in the people of Los Angeles. As communities grow and change, no one should be displaced while rents continue to increase and park projects make neighborhoods more valuable.

We are grateful to LA ROSAH and our partners for their trust and collaboration to serve the people of our community. A very special thank you to the Anahuak Soccer Academy, a youth soccer league in our community, and Los Aztecas, a soccer club made up of players in their 60’s-80’s and who are currently competing in a tournament in Palm Springs. Asegurando $1.5 millones para Viviendas Asequibles y Parques en Los Ángeles

En los próximos años, Glassell Park, también conocido como Frog Town, Taylor Yard, el patio de ferrocarril abandonado a lo largo del río Los Ángeles, se someterá a importantes renovaciones. El Parque Estatal Río de Los Ángeles adyacente al proyecto verá nuevas viviendas asequibles, espacios abiertos, infraestructura verde, transporte y proyectos culturales que beneficiarán a nuestra comunidad.
Para abordar las formas en que el nuevo parque puede afectar negativamente a los vecindarios adyacentes, mi oficina aseguró $1.5 millones para la Colaboración Regional de Espacios Abiertos y Viviendas Asequibles de Los Ángeles (LA ROSAH) para financiar la Estrategia de Equidad de Taylor Yard (TYES), un esfuerzo impulsado por la comunidad que prioriza las voces de nuestros vecinos y las familias que viven en el área. Mi objetivo siempre ha sido asegurarme de que organicemos y entreguemos una agenda que dé prioridad a las personas y que siempre invirtamos en la gente de Los Ángeles. Nadie debería ser desplazado a medida de que los alquileres continúen incrementando y los proyectos de parques hacen que los vecindarios sean más valiosos.
