Tax Season: Money in Your Pocket!

Cal EITC

Dear Friend,

With tax season in full swing, my office is looking to ensure that our constituents across District 52 have access to resources and information to help you in filing.

This year, the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), a refundable cash back tax credit, is available again for working low-income families and individuals. If you qualify for CalEITC and have a child under the age of 6, you may also qualify for the Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC). Also available this year is the Foster Youth Tax Credit (FYTC) for current and former foster youth.

Together, these state credits can put hundreds or even thousands of dollars in your pocket, as follows:

  • The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC): provides up to $3,417 cash back or a reduction of the tax you owe.
  • The Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC): provides up to $1,083 cash back if you had a child under the age of 6 at the end of the tax year.
  • The Foster Youth Tax Credit (FYTC): provides up to $1,083 cash back if you were in California foster care when age 13 or older.

You can claim these credits by filing a state tax return. To learn more and find out if you qualify for any of these programs, click here.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, regarding this or any other state matter, please feel free to reach out to my office:
