World Mental Health Day May Have Passed, But Prioritizing Mental Health Remains Essential Year Round
Dear Neighbor,
In case you missed it, my office recently celebrated World Mental Health Day by hosting our first-ever Mental Health Resource Fair for the Northeast Los Angeles community. The inaugural event raised awareness of mental health issues and provided resources like on-site psychological counseling and meditation sessions at no cost to the community. The focus was to ensure that mental health resources are readily available to communities where they need them the most, to destigmatize mental health, and to acknowledge that mental health is wellness.

I am grateful for our state partners, community-based organizations, local clinics, along with a multitude of professionals working in mental health who attended this successful event. While World Mental Health Day may have passed, our office continues prioritizing mental health for our community year-round.
If you or a loved one are in need of mental health assistance, please get help as early as possible. All county mental health departments have 24/7 hotlines for local residents seeking assistance in a crisis and to access local mental health programs. Some local resources include:
- Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health
- (800) 854-7771 / lacounty.gov
- Free, confidential, and immediate help is also available for you or a loved one struggling or in crisis by calling or texting ‘988’ or at 988lifeline.org
Please feel free to contact my office with any questions.
Yours in Service,
