(Sacramento, CA)–Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo (AD-51) called for and introduced legislation to eliminate the Medi-Cal (Medicaid) assets test.

“Healthcare is a human right. The State of California should not force families to sell everything they have just to get coverage. Eliminating the asset test is the first step in making it easier for uninsured households, with limited to no income, to enroll in Medi-Cal so they have their needs met, during this global pandemic, and on the other side of COVID-19. Healthcare coverage means more than just annual check-ups and trips to urgent care. It covers every aspect of physical and mental health, as well as ongoing services that Californians, including those living with disabilities and their caregivers, rely on.”
