(Sacramento) - Every June, organizations worldwide take time to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle refugees face as they fight for a better life. At the California State Capitol, Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo (D-Los Angeles) called for more compassionate treatment of those seeking freedom and a renewed sense of hope and belonging. “We have a crisis on our hands, and how we respond as Americans, how we respond as this legislative body says a lot about our values,” says Assemblymember Carrillo.
