The California Legislature had a very productive legislative session this year. From improving the educational experience for youth, expanding access to healthcare, increasing job opportunities for workers, and securing millions of dollars in the state budget to fight against homelessness, lawmakers tackled some of the most pressing issues facing residents.

I am happy to recognize Montecito Heights resident Bricia Lopez as my 2019 Woman of the Year of the 51st Assembly District. The Woman of the Year honor celebrates achievements of trailblazing women throughout the state during Women’s History Month.
This week, I presented Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 27 honoring the legacy of civil rights, labor and LGBTQ leader Bayard Rustin as we commemorate Black History Month.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas and holiday season. As we gather round with friends and family, let us rejoice in the spirit of spreading joy and kindness. On this day, I am reminded of my blessings, the compassion you’ve shown me and how lucky I am to serve this incredible district and the great state of California.

A Successful First Year
2018 was a year of listening and learning, building a foundation of greater equity, justice and opportunity for the people of the 51st Assembly District, and for all of California.
